Questions you may be asked

Your doctor may ask you some questions about your sex life and general health in order to find out more about your erection problems.

Sorts of questions you may be asked about your sex life:

  • What happens when you try to have sex?
  • Do you find it difficult to get or keep an erection long enough for sex?
  • How long have you been having problems?
  • Did the problem happen suddenly or gradually?
  • How often can you get an erection firm enough to have satisfying sex?
  • Do you still get early morning erections?
  • Have you lost interest in sex?

Sorts of questions you may be asked about your health in general:

  • Are you taking any medicines?
  • Do you have any medical conditions?
  • Have you had any surgery?
  • How much alcohol do you drink; do you smoke; do you exercise; what's your diet like; do you sleep OK?
  • Do any members of your family have medical conditions e.g. diabetes?
